Tackle It Tuesday - My Love For Glass Jars

It all started with one tiny request from my second son.

"Mom can you put the cereal on the bottom shelf so I don't have to wait for you to get me breakfast?"

GREAT IDEA!!!

But do you think I could just swap the cereal on the top shelf for the crackers and snacks on the bottom shelf?  Of course not.

This began an hour long cleaning of the pantry, a job I DID not have listed on my ever growing To Do List.

I did accomplish another task I have had on my list for some time now.  I have a huge LOVE for jars and really wanted to store many items in my pantry within those jars.  I adore the canning type but I'll use just about any kind of glass container over plastic any day.  I took anything open and stored the items in the glass jars.  Muffin liners, dried berries, baking and soda powder, nuts, flax seed, barley and much more.  My icing sugar is in the Ice Cream container.  If I had my way EVERYTHING would be stored in a glass jar....the look of it just makes me happy.

I also decided to put my salt in a glass jar.  I have a small basket with my baking powder, soda and vanilla.  I grab the basket whenever I bake so I have all these basic ingredients handy.  You usually need salt as well so I decided it was time to be rid of the box and put this ingredient in a nice clean jar.

So long nasty pour spout!

Of course I put the two individuals to work that requested this task be done.  They enjoyed every minute, assisting in the making of a huge mess.

And finally this job was done!  LOVE my baking shelf so organized.  I love the idea of the kids getting their own cereal now as well.

What an awesome job. I can't wait to have a pantry (some day) so I can have all my things organized. I like glass jars to. No fear of anything crawling in them!! :)
