Change of The Seasons

There is a harmony in autumn,
and a luster in its sky,
which through the summer is not heard or seen,
as if it could not be,
as if it had not been!

~Percy Bysshe Shelley

I currently reside where I lived as a child.  To be honest I never ventured far.  There are so many reasons why we built our house on family land.  For myself it is where my heart is.  I can walk through our pastures and have so many memories of my Grandfather and fun times with my Dad.  You learn to have a huge appreciation for the life they gave you when you walk where they worked so hard.

When school began in the fall all of a sudden everything changed.  The leaves on the trees turned yellow, the air was colder and best of all.... you got to wear your new clothes!  But for me it was always the geese that held the start of change.  I loved standing at the end of the lane for the school bus and they would fly right over... so low I could see the different colors in their feathers.  I loved their honking and to this day I enjoy waking up to their noise....flying overhead in the early morning hours on their way to the riverbank or the fields for a feed.

Have a great Tuesday!

I find the sound of the geese depressing. Fall always comes too soon and is over quickly.
