Lost In The Shuffle

The days are flying by in my world.

We just got back to school on Monday after a week long winter break which in my eyes was not a break from anything but studies.  We had swimming lessons everyday and hockey tournaments, games and practices.

It was busy but a good busy.

I hired a babysitter..YAY... for the littlest of the little people.  He did well with her and she handled the twins as well.  In my eyes she is worth a lot if she can handle the chaos.

I'm done with winter.

So done.

I have neglected my blog.  I have alot to say but am holding back.  Sometimes I receive comments on here and in the real world that have a huge impact on me.  Just like I will never understand what is happening in someone else's world, people will never understand what is happening in mine.  I say that in that nicest way possible but seriously if you have one child do not try to give me advice on how to handle four!

My husband commented how easy it was to take our second son skating while our older son was at hockey practice.  He came home and told me how ridiculously easy it was to have only one child with him.  This meant paying more attention to said child.

So we started Daddy Dates.

So far two children have had chances to go out alone with Daddy on their choice of date.

They both picked hockey games....sigh.......and my daughter was one of them.  She's 4!  I will state Daddy had no influence on her.

Everyday is busy but I am a Mother of four and a wife.  My job is to take care of these people I love. I do enjoy it but some days I feel like I get lost in the shuffle of chaos.

Lost as in no one seems to care if I'm here or not, just if their food is prepared and the clothes they want are clean.

HELLO?????

Maybe it's guilt from many years ago because I lost my Mom too soon and I took her forgranted.

So now I am wrestling my kids to see that I am a person and not a maid.....but is that for real?  OR  should I be happy that I am the maid and use lots of love in everything I do from getting them juice to tucking them into bed.

I know the answer but sometimes selfishness is a nasty thing.

Get It Together!

I'm in a slump.

I have zero motivation once again to get anything done that requires more than a few brain cells.  That means I'm still taking care of my family, though I am avoiding my oldest's homework.  I still clean and do laundry but the brain is shutting down.  For example, the Optometrist asked me to cover my left eye and I had to use my hands {to make the L sign with your thumb and finger} to find out which one is my left {insert friends and family I know IRL to be laughing hysterically right now}

I know why...it's called being overwhelmed.

And when I am overwhelmed I just shut down.

I eat chocolate, chips and drink Pepsi.  Sit my butt on my sofa and watch ridiculous shows like the Bachelor and Survivor and find I enjoy them.  I shut down!

So today I plan to change that even though I could sit here in front of the computer as long as the baby is still sleeping and check Facebook status's every 5 minutes.  Or twitter or how about a game of Spider Solitaire.

Today I am going to begin to attack the moutains of pictures waiting for me.  Pictures of children that attend the preschool.  Why oh why did I ever say yes to completing the preschool yearbooks for 19 children I'll never know!  I have four children of my own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  DUH!!!!!!!!!

I am a year behind in developing my own pictures and let's not talk about scrapbooking....bawhahahahahaha. Can't even remember the last time I made a card for anyone.  The creative part of me has left the building.

But today I'm bringing it back out........look out world!

You're Gonna Miss This

I was going to post about how much I will miss my twins turning 4 but right now I have my daughter whining and fussing right beside me.  What she is distraught about? ...I don't think she even knows.

Moving on.......after a very long wait for a package to come in the mail the just turned 4 year old's finally got to open their presents from Mom & Dad.

That is a singing Barbie Muskateer that my daughter is clutching for dear life!
Sam is smiling because he got a flashlight.

The Super Why costume Sammy just HAD to have.
My aunt made it for him.

A matching Musketeer dress for the real girl.

Already at work!

I love their excitement when they receive a gift.  My kids get happy for anything they receive. They do not rip open a gift and then toss it aside and ask for the next one and I am very proud of them for that.
Now all the kids except the sleeping baby are surrounding me in the office because there is just not enough room in this 2600 sq foot house for them to go!

This Mommy is realizing I need a mini vacation and soon...very very soon!

Head on over to Pam's blog and check out what other's are missing or play along.

Hi Ho Hi Ho it's back to the Dr's we go....

Lastnight our oldest son and the first to get an ear infection mentioned his ear was sweating.

EWWWWWWWW!

Sweating but no pain.  I was happy he was finally not in pain anymore but worried what the leaking meant.

After questioning a few people on facebook it looks like we may have an ear drum that burst.  Luckily our son is on Azrithomyacin and just recently finished a dose of Amoxicillian so he is covered infection wise.

So I must get ready then dress the little ones and haul all four of my children to the doctor once again.

I am happy that it's mild weather and that half of the kids are in quite good moods today.

Best of all our daughter slept in her own bed lastnight with only waking once....

........she's 4 by the way!

Happy Friday.

The Deer Explained

I was freaking out right along with you all when my oldest son ran into the house to tell me they were petting a deer.

My first reaction was to hurt my husband who was out there with them.  What was he thinking?????

So I go running out like a crazy woman with camera in hand of course and find two strangers and a very tame young deer in my driveway.

I really get no explanation when I first run out there but the lady says "hi" and waves.  I was covered in icing sugar and food coloring, not too mention I needed a shower so I stayed on the deck.

Turns out these people are our new neighbors and the deer belongs to the other neighbor.  Remember I live in a rural area so my neighbor is at least 2 miles away.

The deer was saved as a fawn.  A coyote was attacking it and this fellow saved the deer.  Do you see why I dislike coyotes and right now we are so overrun with them you can get paid by the government to shoot them.

So that's the story.  Our white husky Annie ran the little deer off.  She is slightly possesive of our land and kids.

Now someone needs to let that little deer know how much this family likes to hunt and eat wild meat so that when he/she is older it can run east and not west.

Tackle It Tuesday - Hockey hockey hockey....

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

As always I'm tackling housework on a daily basis but for the month of February hockey will be my tackle....and I am so not kidding.

Our son is 7.  We have two 4 yr olds and a 16 month old.  It's alot of people to get ready and haul to the rink.  Did I mention our son is 7 years old?  He still has issues putting the equipment on and tieing his skates so I do it if Dad is working.  I am usually sweating by the time I leave the dressing room...so thankful rinks are cold!

Now for 7 years old I think this is way too much hockey.

Our past week....Hockey on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday (2x), Sunday (2x), Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday (2x), Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and we finally get a break until the Monday.

CRAZY!

It is not normally like this so I am happy with that but seriously the people at Minor Hockey need to stop letting a computer decide when games should be!

That being said, I am the hockey Mom that LOVES watching hockey.  I grew up on the ice and played Ringette for over 13 years and coached one year.  I LOVE hockey.  I married a hockey player, my brother played hockey.  What can I say?  Truly Canadian.

And yes I played curling too in case your wondering.

So that is my tackle...hockey and lots of hot chocolate.  My throat is still sore from all the cheering this past weekend.  For 7 & 8 year olds this team ROCKS and are so good with each other.  They skated over 100 minutes of hockey straight...no break between games this past weekend and they all had GREAT spirits after.

So proud of them.

So off I go to buy myself a airhorn for this next weekends tournament....oh yes I am that hockey Mom!

What are you tackling...I'd love to come visit so leave a comment and a link!

Head on over to 5 minutes for Mom and get inspired!
